MENORAHS BY MARIE
The creative mind of an artist is always looking forward to what is coming next. What will be my next design that will bring new and interesting colours, and will get me really excited when I sit down in my workshop? Even when I’m busy recreating Menorahs that I’ve designed years ago, my mind often sees new patterns and new combinations of colours. I hope that people who visit this website will also ask me what’s new. I will gladly send along some new photos of where my imagination is taking me.
Along with creating and making Menorahs, I have used the same fused-glass techniques to make Seder plates and Mezuzahs as well. My Seder plates are pretty much roundish with six built in bowl like depressions to accommodate the traditional foods of the Passover Seder. My Seder plates are meant to be a work of art that will beautifully enhance your festive table.
While I’ve been busy making Judaica with glass, my husband has created his own little artisanal business making serving platters, cutting boards, and furniture using wood and epoxy resin. It all started when I asked him to make me a new kitchen table.
Since then he’s dabbled in making some Judaica in parallel with me. He’s made some amazing Menorahs and seder plates himself using thick solid hardwoods and resin. Each piece is a reflection of where his artistic vision takes him with that particular piece of wood. Using resins allows a lot of choices regarding colours and degree of translucency. Don’t forget to ask about what my husband has in stock when you visit my website.
One of my personal favourites is this square Seder plate made with olive wood. It has 6 routered built-in bowls for your 6 traditional Passover foods. Below is the amazing Box Elder Seder plate with red resin and with a naturally occurring red feature right through the wood.
